Flexibility of access is important to me, to ensure sessions are accessible to all and I support many people who live interstate, or for whom face to face sessions with me are not possible.
While telehealth sessions are available, my preference is for in-person connection where safety, stability, and the therapeutic relationship can be most fully supported.
In my experience, face to face sessions facilitate deeper attunement and connection, which play a key role in the healing process.
-
Generally my sessions are 50-60 minutes, unless discussed prior.
Please ensure you arrive on time, as I am usually unable to extend beyond your session time if I have other clients scheduled.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the modalities I am trained in.
EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy treatment option that may be suitable for trauma, phobias, anxiety, stress and other experiences.
If you are interested in EMDR and would like further information, we can discuss individual suitability.
-
This is difficult to provide an answer for, and is completely dependent on your individual needs. I am able to work within solution focused, brief intervention models and long-term therapy models.
The approach and frequency of sessions will be discussed with you when we define your goals and collaborate to develop your individual therapy plan.
-
I have a focus on relationship-based practice, because I believe trust and rapport with your therapist is crucial in the process and research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the strongest predictor of positive outcomes in therapy.
In each session I show up as non-judgemental, empathic and with the belief that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support you in overcoming challenges and processing difficult emotions and experiences. I allow the pace of therapy to be led by you, and you will remain in control every step of the way.
Sessions may include:
EMDR
Interpersonal psychotherapy
Psychoeducation
Creative therapies
Solution focused therapy
Person-centred therapy
Cognitive behaviour therapy
My approach is tailored to the needs and preferences of each person and I am trained in a variety of modalities and frameworks to ensure your needs are supported in a way that works for you.

A referral or Mental Health Care Plan is not required to access my services, and sessions do not currently attract a Medicare rebate.
One benefit of this, is that the waiting time may be much shorter than accessing government funded/Medicare services and the option to access ongoing support is available, rather than being capped at 10 subsidised sessions- which is often the case with Medicare.
Access to ongoing sessions with the one Counsellor and a stable therapeutic relationship can reduce the distress that often comes with re-telling your story.
-
Payment is collected at the start of each session, unless an alternative payment plan has been discussed.
If finances are a barrier for you, please get in touch to discuss options.

I am a PACFA registered Clinical Counsellor.
This means that I meet the high education and training standards set by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and to remain registered, I am required to meet minimum professional development activities and professional supervision hours each year.
I would encourage you to seek mental health support, by professionals registered to a regulatory body with high ethical and educational standards.

Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Counsellor, Social Worker, Mental Health Practitioner…the list goes on. You are not alone if you read these titles and aren’t quite sure what type of professional support you need!
The choice of which service provider you see is a personal one and will come down to your individual needs and reasons for accessing support.
Counsellors in Australia do not diagnose mental health conditions or write reports and assessments in the same was as Psychologists and instead many Counsellors are able to support the ‘whole person’.
I chose to study Counselling as I resonate with humanistic approaches and relationship-based practice as the foundation of my support and have done extensive additional training and education following my university degree.
With many complex barriers to accessing Psychology and Psychiatry in Australia, Counselling provides an alternative or additional option for people requiring support, without the need for a diagnosis or extensive wait times.
Many registered Counsellors are trained in identifying and supporting mental health conditions, which may be diagnosed by a client’s GP, however a diagnosis is not necessary for our service.
It is important to seek support from professionals trained in your area of need. If you are unsure if I am able to support you- please ask!
